Who We Are
Right To Bear is a self-defense legal protection membership organization that provides legal defense support, attorney access, and educational resources for responsible gun owning adults in the United States who may face legal consequences after a lawful act of self-defense. We exist to help individuals prepare for the legal realities that can follow a defensive incident involving firearms or other lawful means of protection.
Right To Bear, headquartered in South Carolina and serving gun owners nationwide, was founded in July 2021 by Frank Cannon and Perry Orth with support from Palmetto State Armory. The organization was created to fill a critical gap in self-defense preparation, because most training focuses on technique but few resources prepare individuals for the legal and emotional aftermath of a defensive incident. Right To Bear provides structured legal support, rapid response resources, and ongoing education so members can face high-pressure situations with confidence and clarity. Today, Right To Bear is among the fastest-growing and most trusted legal defense membership organizations serving gun owners nationwide.
Leadership & Shared Values
Frank Cannon, president and co-founder, brings decades of insurance industry experience and leads with a values-driven approach. A University of South Carolina graduate in political science, Frank’s guiding principle reflects the organization’s mission:

Perry Orth, vice president and co-founder, adds strong experience in commercial insurance and business leadership and currently serves as CEO of QB1 Athletics. A University of South Carolina graduate in economics and marketing, Perry helped build Right To Bear into the large, trusted community it is today.
Together, they share a vision of empowering responsible gun owners with the training and legal support needed to protect themselves and their families, while knowing help is available if the unthinkable happens.
Who We Serve
Right To Bear’s membership plans serve individual gun owners, concealed carry holders, families, law enforcement officers, former military and all responsible citizens who want legal preparedness in addition to personal safety readiness. When a member is involved in a lawful self-defense incident and encounters criminal charges, civil lawsuits, or related legal proceedings, we step in to help. In those situations, the organization coordinates access to criminal and civil defense attorney fee funding, a nationwide attorney network, expert witnesses, and other incident-related support to help members navigate the legal process.

How Our Membership Works
Through affiliated attorneys and service providers, the organization facilitates access to legal defense services and practical resources designed to support members before, during, and after a self-defense incident. We are not an insurance company or a law firm, but rather provide these resources as well as a number of benefits through our membership plan thanks to support from our partners in the fight to recognize and enforce the rights of our members to own and wield their legal firearms.
*The Right To Bear Association has acquired a self-defense liability policy on behalf of the Association and its members, providing protection for criminal and civil defense, firearm replacement, bail bonds, and psychological support in the event of a covered act of self-defense.
Membership fees are collected and managed by Moultrie Insurance, LLC, a licensed insurance agency providing sales, operational, and administrative support to the Right To Bear Association. California License # 6006483
